Quick & Easy Ways To Make Meal Prep Easier

Shhh!!!  I have a secret I’m going to share with you.  No matter how healthy someone eats, no one likes to food prep!  They only like the results of having a plan for nutritious eating.  Now that that’s off my chest let’s get into this for a second…

The biggest excuse I hear from folks about why they don’t eat in a way that supports their health & fitness goals is “I just don’t have time”.  I am a firm believer that like anything else in life, you have time for what you make time for.

Food prep does not mean you have to spend hours in the kitchen so erase your preconceived notions and keep reading.

For some people, even just the thought of preparing their own food can seem overwhelming.  And if you never start, then you can’t quit or fail, right?!  But for others, it seems like a breeze with their hundreds of perfectly portioned tupperwares lined up and labeled.

Here’s a couple of simple tricks and tips that will take you from the “scrambling for meal ideas and ingredients who says eff it and just eats Chic-Fil-A again” person (that’s healthy, right?!) to the macro-mastering perfect-portioning food prep wizard that is just waiting to be unleashed.

Yes, you might pay a buck or two more for this convenience, but the time you save in the kitchen is tenfold!  Every supermarket has a refrigerated section where they sell peppers, onions, mushrooms, slaw, brussel sprouts, melons, apples, etc. already washed, cut, and ready to be your next delicious stir fry, or on-the-go snack.

Nowadays, there is every kind of meal prep service available to you via the interwebs so do your research, and you are bound to find something that works for your taste!

My favorite local meal prep service is Performance Meal Prep based in Philly.  They sell high-quality prepared foods (proteins by the pound = huge timesaver) as well as offering a grocery delivery option that provides you with fresh fruits and veggies for the week without the hassle of the grocery store.

Recently they have added Philly Bread Company to their providers and continue to bring you the healthiest options local-Philly has to offer!  PS- They do home delivery for a tiny fee & they will also deliver to the Jersey Shore.  You can find out more here:  www.eatpmp.com

Choosing locally helps support businesses around you, but there are also things like Hello Fresh & Blue Apron that provide ingredients that you add together, cook & viola!  Here’s where you can find out more about these services:  www.hellofresh.com and www.blueapron.com

These small appliances have changed the face of the food prep world.  They allow you to set it and forget it so you can get back to your daily life knowing your next meal is taken care of!  Plus, finding a healthy recipe is 3 clicks away on google.

Not all of these are good if you are in a rush for a same-day meal.  Crock pots are called slow-cookers for a reason!  But with chili season fast approaching, it’s not a bad go-to for a savory dish.

If you find a recipe that you love but it takes you a little bit of time to prepare it, make a double or triple batch and freeze it for later.  Not only will it be there if you are in a jam and need something healthy, but it will save you the time you would have spent making it again.

If you need help coming up with a plan for your food prep, aren’t sure what you need or how much to eat, book a call today to get the guidance and accountability you need to reach your nutrition goals!
